Education lies at the heart of our society. In Finland, there is a broad national consensus that Finland’s wellbeing is and will be based on knowledge and expertise. Good results of Finnish education system were not achieved overnight. It has taken decades and many reforms to take the Finnish educational system where it is now.
Education is free. In Finland education is free at all levels. There are, however, a few exceptions. In early childhood education and care families pay moderate fees depending on the family’s size and income. Adult education, liberal adult education as well as basic education in the arts may require a fee.
