St. Gabriel's Academy was established in 1962 by the Society of Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel, responding to an invitation from Bring. Mark Valladares, then commandant of BEG & Centre, Roorkee. The school had only 26 students on roll, all accommodated in the hostel, housed in Gen. William's bungalow along with the Brothers.
