Synopsis. Raees (Shah Rukh Khan), from Fatehpur, Gujarat gets involved in illegal liquor trade at a very young age. Along with Sadiq (Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub), Raees works for a notorious gangster Jairaj (Atul Kulkarni), smuggles alcohol illegally by bribing the police.
The film was released on 25 January 2017 during India's Republic Day weekend. It received overall positive reviews from the critics and was a success at box office. It was also the highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2017. Raees was also the most popular Hindi film of 2017.
RAEES is the fictitious story of a man named Raees (Shah Rukh Khan), set in early 1980’s to 1990’s Gujarat, India. The film explores how Raees' relationships and meteoric rise helped him build an entire empire from scratch, to make him the single most powerful man in the state.
