    Causes of Patellofemoral Pain

    Although doctors are unsure of the exact causesof this condition, it has been found to be associated with the following: 1. Overuse- repetitive running and jumping movements can put stress on the kneecaps 2. Muscle imbalance or weakness- when the muscles between the hip and knee don’t allow your kneecap to be properly aligned 3. Injury- trauma caused by dislocation of fracture may cause pain in the kneecap 4. Surgery- knee surgery may increase the risk of this condition over time

    Symptoms

    This specific type of knee pain is known to become present when the knee is aggravated through certain positions of movements.
