Oct 8, 2004 · About the movie. Bride & Prejudice is a movie based on an English novel named Pride and Prejudice written by Jane Austen. The story is of four daughters whose mother wants them to be married to rich families so that they can lead a comfortable life. Later the elder daughter receives a marriage proposal from rich family and her mother agrees for it.
However, "Bride & Prejudice" isn't exactly a Bollywood film, but is an interesting hybrid. Parts of the film were made in Northern India, as well as the UK and the US. The director, Gurinder Chadha, is of Indian descent but was born in Kenya and raised in the UK, so her making a film that blends cultures (like her other famous film, "Bend It Like Beckham") is a natural.
