In 1965, much-loved village schoolmaster Deenanath Chauhan Strongly opposes the plans of Kancha Cheena, an underworld don, and his band of gangsters to set up a base for heroin smuggling.
Jan 26, 2024 · One reason for its failure was Mr Bachchan’s voice which he transformed into gravelly baritone for his character of a gangster. When Agneepath showed no signs of gathering momentum at the box office, Mr Bachchan re-dubbed the dialogues and the film was put out with his normal voice on the soundtrack.
Malhotra’s film finds itself constantly in dialogue with the older Agneepath, resolving a few of the latter’s contradictions (and adding a few), deftly pruning out its circuitous narrative threads and making prominent some of the latent themes and equivalences.
