The Rashtrapati Niwas or the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies is by far the best preserved specimen of British Indian architecture in North India. Located on top of a hill, this was the summer residence of the Viceroy of India; the winter residence being the Rashtrapati Bhawan in Delhi (current official residence of the President of India).
