    • Overview & Orientation. Balboa Park features a square-shaped layout with two canyons slicing through it from north to south. The park is divided into three primary zones: East Mesa (recreational facilities); Central Mesa (historic and cultural attractions and the zoo); and West Mesa (serene walking paths).
