  1. Who: The winner is Thor. How: With Vegeta’s skull in his hand, Thor summoned Mjolnir to him, crushing Vegeta’s skull. Why: Thor was roughly 10x stronger and quintillions of times faster, which allowed him to shut down Vegeta’s ranged attacks, while making him too fast for Vegeta to hit with his own absorption moves.

  2. Loki has said that Eric only wields a tenth of the actual Thor's strength. Thor also has his own multipliers like warriors madness, and his belt. And then Thor has things which Vegeta will have trouble with. Like draining his life force, time traveling, warping space, cosmic storms and hitting him with the godblast.

Thor VS Vegeta is the 159th episode of Death Battle, featuring Thor Odinson from Marvel Comics and Vegeta from the Dragon Ball series in a battle between prideful alien princes. Thor was reprised by Jonah Scott and Vegeta was reprised by Nick Landis.

Wiz: Thor, the God of Thunder.

Boomstick: And Vegeta, the Prince of all Saiyans.

Wiz: The sky shakes when they appear, and the earth trembles when they approach. No world can contain the power of these two gods of war.

    Boomstick: Or their egos.

Boomstick: He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick.

Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win... a Death Battle.

Wiz: Thunder cracks, the heavens rumble, lightning blinds your eyes. You look up to the sky and pray for mercy because Thor... is angry.

Boomstick: Well, you would have if you were a viking. Nowadays, we don't have time for myths and legends.

Wiz: Oh, don't we? For in the modern mythology of Marvel Comics, the Norse God of Thunder was reborn.

Boomstick: And I'd wager this Thor is a hell of an upgrade.

Wiz: The son of the All-Father, Odin, Thor lived the life of a warrior prince, battling all matter of magical foe for thousands of years.

Boomstick: That is, until he got a little too big for his britches. So, to teach him a lesson about humility and compassion and whatever, Odin exiled him to the worst place in the universe: New York. Ooh, ya hate to see it.

Wiz: Planet Vegeta, home to the bloodthirsty warrior race known as the Saiyans and named for their mighty leader, King Vegeta. Noting the Saiyans' proficiency in... genocide, the alien emperor King Cold and his son, Frieza, contracted them to be their personal hit squad, conquering worlds in their name.

Boomstick: But when Frieza felt these monkeys were gettin' a bit too uppity for their own good, he nuked 'em and their whole planet!

Wiz: The king was dead, leaving his young son, the Prince Vegeta, alone.

Wiz: Burning with a grudge against Frieza for wounding his ancestral pride, Vegeta awaited the moment he could extract his revenge.

Boomstick: As one of Frieza's former top enforcers, Veggie was trained from birth to be one of the greatest warriors in the universe.

Wiz: It helps that Planet Vegeta had a gravity 10 times greater than that of Earth's, making his natural physiology significantly stronger and more durable than a human's.

Wiz: Alright, the combatants are set. We've run the data through all possibilities.

Boomstick: IT'S TIME FOR A DEATH BATTLEEE!!!

Thor: Ho there, mighty warrior! What business havest thou upon Earth?

Vegeta: Throw that hammer at me again and my "business" will be polishing my gloves upon your face!

    Thor: (laughs) Didst that count?

    Thor: Yield, damnable cur!

Thor: Thou fights well, for a mortal. Alas, you face a god!

Vegeta: I have evolved beyond gods.

Boomstick: Oh, I get it! Thor won because he's a natural blonde!

Wiz: Despite Vegeta's immense power and tenacity, the God of Thunder had him outmatched in several key areas.

Boomstick: First off, the big one, who was stronger?

Wiz: Despite being up against the God of Strength, Vegeta actually matched up pretty closely with Thor. Both could output power far in excess of destroying a single universe.

Boomstick: It's always tough to get an exact number for Dragon Ball Super's most powerful characters, but we can combine the size of Universe 7 with multipliers from Vegeta's transformations to get a rough estimate.

Wiz: It's important to note that Ultra Ego's power boost has never been stated, but we do know that Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta were roughly even in power. When Goku applied a Kaio-ken x20 boost to fight Jiren, Vegeta kept up after going Blue Evolved, implying that both increases in power are roughly the same increase. Similarly, Blue Vegeta matched base Top, and needed Blue Evolved to keep up with Top's God of Destruction form, which is extremely similar to Ultra Ego in theme and purpose. Given this is the best current example of a measurable form akin to Ultra Ego, we can assume that Ultra Ego's boost in power, at least initially, could be extremely similar in terms of a percentage increase, making Ultra Ego's original state about 20 times more powerful than Blue Evolved. With that in mind, Vegeta at his peak could destroy a universe roughly 260,000 times over.

    Composition

The track for this fight is "Princes of Pride" by Brandon Yates ft. Jun Mitsui. It is a lyrical Viking metal rock track that incorporates Nordic musical elements that call back to Thor's mythological background. The middle of the song also features a remix of Vegeta's Super Saiyan theme from the Dragon Ball Z anime that plays after he enters Ultra Ego.

    Title

The title references both combatants' backgrounds as princes of their respective races who are known for being proud warriors.

    Cover Art

The cover art depicts both combatants' arms grasping Thor's hammer, Mjolnir. Thor's arm has lightning emitting from it while Vegeta's is surrounded by a flaming Ultra Ego aura, all the while both ends of the arms are being disintegrated by Vegeta's Hakai.

    Production

•The connections between Thor and Vegeta are that they are both godly and prideful humanoid alien warrior princes of an otherworldly nation and race with a martial culture (Asgard’s Asgardians and Planet Vegeta’s Saiyans, respectively) and were the sons of their world's highest rulers (Odin and King Vegeta, respectively). Both were humbled after visiting Earth, where they learned to work with others as they joined a heroic team to fight evil and protect the multiverse (the Avengers and the Z-Fighters, respectively). Both also fell in love with a human woman (Jane Foster and Bulma, respectively) and developed a friendly rivalry with their world's strongest heroes (The Hulk and Goku, respectively). Both also mainly utilize different energy-based attacks (Asgardian Magic and Ki, respectively), have techniques that let them absorb energies from their opponents (Mjolnir's absorption capabilities and Forced Spirit Fission, respectively) and gained a then-recent godly power (Thor-Force and Ultra Ego, respectively). •Both also had movies released in 2022 (Thor: Love and Thunder and Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, respectively). •Thor: Love and Thunder was once set to release on May 6th, 2022, three days before this episode’s YouTube release date. •The first trailer for the film was released a week before this episode was revealed. •This episode was released on YouTube on May 9th, which is known as "Goku Day" in Japan. •Coincidentally, it is also the same day Vegeta VS Shadow released. •Strangely, this is the first episode of Season 9 to not have a comparison panel between both combatants, with the next being Hercules VS Sun Wukong. •This is the first episode of Season 9 in which the YouTube version of the episode was uploaded directly and not through an upcoming premiere, with the next one being Deku VS Asta. •According to writer Liam Swan in the 277th episode of DEATH BATTLE Cast, he sent in Tusk's Theme from Killer Instinct to Brandon Yates as a reference track for Princes of Pride. •The storyboards by John Mitchell reveal parts of the fight that were cut from the final episode, namely an extra scene of Thor using both Mjolnir and Jarnbjorn against Vegeta, Vegeta reacting to Thor absorbing his Big Bang Attack, Vegeta trying to lift up Mjolnir at the bottom of the river before Thor goes to grab it again, and Vegeta's Hakai and Final Flash combo attack originally destroying a chunk of the Earth. •A few of Princes of Pride's lyrics would eventually be referenced alongside Alive in Dragon Dance, the track for Gogeta VS Vegito.

    Easter Eggs

•Thor's "Background" slide includes "Greatest foe: Noobmaster69" as one of the bullet points. This is a reference to the username of a Fortnite player that Thor has confronted multiple times for bullying Korg in Avengers: Endgame. •Vegeta's "Background" slide includes "Tien" as one of his dislikes, which may be a reference to their contempt towards each other in Dragon Ball Z Abridged. •Boomstick's comment about how Vegeta can go Super Saiyan with "no bottle required" in his analysis is likely a reference to a joke made in Dragon Ball Z Abridged, in which Android 18 states that, unlike Android 17, "he doesn't need a bottle". •A few of Vegeta's lines are direct references to some of his quotes from both the original Dragon Ball Z anime and Dragon Ball Z Abridged, the latter of which Vegeta's voice actor, Nick Landis, reprised his role from. •"I'm the Prince of all Saiyans, and you can burn in hell!" is a reference to his quote "I am a Super Saiyan, and you can burn in hell!" •"Tell me. Does a god such as yourself feel fear?!" is a reference to what he asked Android 19 before turning Super Saiyan: "Let me ask you. Does a machine like yourself ever experience fear?" •"All you will feel... IS OBLIVION!!" when he charges up his Final Flash is a reference to Dragon Ball Z Abridged, where Vegeta in a similar situation stated the same line towards Perfect Cell. •Vegeta halting Mjolnir in its tracks may be a reference to Thor: Ragnarok, where Hela stopped the hammer with her bare hand before destroying it, albeit here, Vegeta does not completely succeed in holding it back. •The exposed lakebed that the two briefly grapple in may be a nod to similar scenes in both Vegeta's first fight against Frieza and against Beerus. Vegeta's uppercut sending Thor upward is also similar to how he sends Beerus away and out of the lakebed. •The struggle hold and exchange of headbutts Thor and Vegeta do in it shortly after Vegeta enters Ultra Ego is possibly a reference to a similar moment in Thor's fight with Iron Man in the first Avengers film. •Thor's line, "Feel Heaven's wrath!", is a reference to the same line he says when using Mighty Punish in Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds. •The same line was previously said in both of Thor's first two fights, with the former using a voice clip of the line directly from the game while the latter was voice acted. •The way that Vegeta uses Instant Transmission to get behind Thor before unleashing Final Flash is similar to how Goku used the technique to get point blank in front of Perfect Cell before using his Kamehameha. •The way the Final Flash exits the Earth's atmosphere out into the depths of space may also be a call-back to the full power attack that Vegeta used against Perfect Cell. •Towards the end of the fight, Thor advises Vegeta to "Always aim for the head!" before finishing him off. This is a reference to Avengers: Infinity War, where Thanos says "You should've gone for the head." after Thor fails to kill him after striking him in the chest, as well as Thor taking Thanos' advice in Avengers: Endgame by decapitating him near the start of the film and saying "I went for the head." afterward. •Thor's method of killing Vegeta is similar to how he forced Loki to blow his cover as a disguised Odin in Thor: Ragnarok. •Boomstick telling Wiz off for making a pun at the end of the post-analysis is a repeat of what happened at the end of the post-analysis for DIO VS Alucard.

    Errors

•In Vegeta's analysis, "Lucora Gun" is misspelled as "Locura Gun". •After Thor first throws Mjolnir at Vegeta, Mjolnir's head can be seen clipping into Thor's leg. •When Vegeta is knocked down to the ground by Thor's lightning bolt, the former's shadow on the ground is missing. •When Thor catches his breath after the battle, his reflection can be seen in the water as the same size he is. However, since he is very high up above the water's surface, not only should his reflection not be visible from that perspective, but it also makes his reflection appear giant.

  3. Key Takeaways. Thor and Vegeta demonstrate exceptional strength, durability, and powers that make them legendary figures in their respective universes. Their weapons and abilities have played a crucial role in many important battles and contribute to their iconic status.

  4. That makes sense with more technical fighters that have certain weaknesses that can be exploited, but Hulk, Thor and Vegeta are all simple brute force characters. They don’t have any unique powers, and their strength is how they fight.
