Stokes Bay. Stokes Bay (grid ref.:) SZ 590 980) (50.782982, -1.163868) is an area of the Solent that lies just south of Gosport, between Portsmouth and Lee-on-the-Solent, Hampshire. There is a shingle beach with views of Ryde and East Cowes on the Isle of Wight to the south and Fawley to the south west. The settlement of Alverstoke is close by.
The bay provides great views of the Isle of Wight, with views over Ryde and Fishbourne. Stokes Bay is a great place to watch the sunset, enjoy an evening paddleboard or swim, or fish and chips on the beach or in the local resturant overlooking the beach.

A detailed archaeological assessment of Stokes Bay, and the recent characterisation study commissioned by Historic England, have highlighted the historic significance of Stokes Bay and the major role it played as part of the Gosport defences.
This is a great place for summer days the only downside is it's a stone beach so reccomend some shoes you don't mind getting wet. There is a splash park with small slide, a playground, minigolf, two cafe's and a small field for barbequeues and big meet ups. Fun seaside day out with car parking.

Stokes Bay. Part of the longest continuous shingle beach in England, which stretches from Lee on the Solent to the Harbour Entrance. Stokes Bay Sailing Club is on the left of the picture and the centrepiece is Saint Mary Alverstoke, for centuries a focal point of Gosport.
South-west facing Stokes Bay is a shingle beach in Gosport, on the Hampshire coast. This is a family friendly location, with the Gosport Splash Park on the seafront, ideal for young children. Next door is a restaurant and the local sailing club.
