Sonata 6 is unaccompanied. Born in Bath, Jane Mary Guest was a pupil of Thomas Linley, and later of J.C. Bach. In the mid 1780s she removed to London, but always maintained a strong connection with her native city: she performed at William Beckford's coming of age celebrations at Fonthill, 1781, and at Rauzzini's concerts in Bath in the 1790s, for which she wrote several (now lost) piano concertos.
