Kwai Chang Caine (Chinese: 虔官昌; pinyin: Qián Guānchāng) is a fictional character and the protagonist of the ABC 1972–1975 action-adventure western television series Kung Fu. [2] He has been portrayed by David Carradine as an adult Caine, Keith Carradine as a younger Caine, Radames Pera as the child Caine, and Stephen Manley as the youngest Caine.

Kung Fu: The Next Generation. In Kung Fu: The Next Generation (1987), the story moves to the present day and centers on the story of Kwai Chang "Johnny" Caine (Brandon Lee), who is the great-great-grandson of Kwai Chang Caine, and the difficult relationship he has with his father, also named Kwai Chang (David Darlow).

Carradine played the part of the grandson and namesake of the original Kwai Chang Caine in Kung Fu: The Legend Continues (1992), which led to a new TV series that ran from 1993 to 1997, and consisted of 88 episodes. Carradine also worked as a producer and directed an episode.

Radames Pera(born September 14, 1960) is an American actor best known for his role as "Grasshopper," the student Kwai Chang Caine in the 1972–1975 television series Kung Fu.
•On April 21, 2021, Radames Pera, who played young Caine, a.k.a. Grasshopper, on the original TV series, and is the last surviving member of the original Kung Fu series mentioned he only had one criticism of the new 2021 version. Although he admits he only read the script for the Pilot, he says he hopes the show uses less violence and more peaceful instances to resolve conflict. Because all he's come across recently in the script he read was the heroine choosing violence.
•As a young Caine, Pera went on to appear in 48 of the 63 episodes of the original series.
