Backstory
He was an ordinary teddy bear in a toy manufacturer until he was thrown away for being defective and was brought to life and rescued by Spotty who took him to Mother Nature who gave him special powers of superhuman strength and flying using his rocket boots every time he whispers his secret magic word. Thus SuperTed was born.
SuperTed
SuperTed along with Spotty fights against the evil forces of Texas Pete, Bulk and Skeleton. However SuperTed also takes the time to show Spotty the customs of Earth. In return, Spotty tells SuperTed about the planet Spot.

SuperTed is a famous character who started off as a series of bedtime stories told by Mike Young to his stepson Richard who was afraid of the dark. His adventures proved so popular that 100 books were published and a television series was produced by Siriol Productions.
- SuperTed was created to cure the fear of the dark. SuperTed’s creator Mike Young’s son was terrified of the dark, so in order to help him overcome his fears, Young created the character SuperTed who would get magic powers from Mother Nature.
- SuperTed could have been American. When SuperTed rose to popularity, American studio Warner Bros. offered Mike Young £250,000 (just under £1 million in today’s money) to produce a cartoon series based on the character.
- Originally aired in Welsh. In its original run in 1982 on S4C, the show was in the Welsh language and translated to English when aired on BBC1 the following year.
- First British cartoon to air on the Disney Channel. SuperTed was aired in over 50 countries including Africa, Sweden, India and Australia and it was the very first British made show to air on The Disney Channel in America.
