Thamizhachi Thangapandian, also known as Sumathy, is an Indian Tamil poet, lyricist, orator, politician and writer. She garnered a total of 516,628 votes, surpassing her closest competitor, Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), by a margin of 225,945 votes.
