Jul 24, 2023 · Jewish elementary schools are the primary feeder schools for TanenbaumCHAT, so increasing their student population has also contributed to the high school’s boom. In 2017, there were 175 students entering Grade 9; this year, there are 375.
TanenbaumCHAT has been a cornerstone of Jewish life in Toronto for almost 60 years. As the only community Jewish high school in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area, it has had an unparalleled impact and fulfills a unique role.

This is why we work to remove financial barriers to meaningful Jewish experiences, including Jewish day school. Approximately one in three students enrolled in UJA’s funded day schools currently benefit from Day School Scholarships, which help lower day school tuition for families in Jewish Toronto.
Toronto’s Premier Community Jewish High School. In 2017, TanenbaumCHAT made Jewish day school history with the launch of an innovative tuition program. Thanks to two major gifts, we were able to reduce tuition by $9,000 for all students for five years. This bold initiative was extremely successful.
