Overview. Vijayawada is surrounded by the Eastern Ghats on three sides and vast tracts of agricultural land on the fourth. The Krishna River cuts through the hills and flows alongside the city. One of the main entry points to Vijayawada (when you're travelling from Hyderabad)is through a tunnel that was cut into one of the hills.
