High Falls State Park is a 1,050-acre (4.2 km 2) state park located near the city of Jackson in Monroe County, Georgia. It is the site of a prosperous 19th-century industrial center, which became a ghost town when it was bypassed by the railroad. [1] The park contains the largest waterfall in middle Georgia and a 650-acre (2.6 km 2) lake.
Located northwest of Macon, High Falls State Park is named for tumbling cascades on the Towaliga River. Boat rental, ramps and fishing docks provide easy access to the park’s lake, known as one of Georgia’s top fishing spots for hybrid and white bass.
It is located across the street from the lake view campground and the park entrance. We drove through the lake view campground and the sites are a bit smaller so they are perfect for small campers and tents. It is very shaded and has a limited view of the lake. We did all the trails at the park.
