The Hamptons is a group of towns, villages, and hamlets on Long Island in New York state known for its rural setting and amenities. It's popular with wealthy people from New York City.

The seaside region is associated with celebrity sightings; many rich and famous spend their summers there. Alec Baldwin, Ina Garten, Jimmy Fallon are some examples of residents or visitors to the area.

Not all areas in the Hamptons are expensive; residents and visitors can find affordable places like Montauk, Hampton Bays, Westhampton etc., which offer ocean breezes, white sand beaches etc.

The two townships that make up the Hamptons are Southampton Township (more laid-back) and East Hampton Township (old money). Each township includes smaller villages/hamlets with their own zip codes and personalities.

South Fork is where you'll find the exclusive atmosphere of the Hamptons while North Fork offers a relaxed environment growing in popularity but considered less exclusive than Southfork.
