    • Thinks about others before themselves

      • A thoughtful person is someone who thinks about others before themselves. They are thoughtful of the needs and feelings of those around them. A thoughtful person understands that they can’t solve everything, but wants to be a part in whatever way possible. It takes both focus and empathy for this characteristic to work well together.

  2. Jul 5, 2024 · Ever wondered what truly makes someone a good person? The qualities that define a good person often go beyond mere actions; they reflect a deeper sense of character and integrity. Whether you’re reflecting on yourself or observing others, understanding these traits can help guide you toward becoming a better individual.

    • They’re considerate. Depending on your age, dear reader, you may or may not remember the “good old” days when kids were taught to be kind and considerate.
    • They have empathy. I guess most of us have empathy to different degrees (I say most because psychopaths don’t). I just feel that with years of being bombarded with horrible images of war and people suffering, we’ve kind of become “immune”.
    • They’re compassionate. And it’s not just that they can feel what others feel, they also have a strong urge to do something to help. If a friend is clearly miserable and going through something, even if they’re not ready to open up, a thoughtful person will find a way to help.
    • They’re generous. Being generous can mean so many different things. The first thing that comes to mind for many people is “money” and material things.
    • They remember little things about you. In relationships and friendships, it’s always the little things that make a big difference (as evidenced by Psych Central’s research).
    • They keep little lists about you. A thoughtful person doesn’t just remember things about you. They actually take the time to write them down, too. So they never, ever forget.
    • They think about you and how you might be feeling. This applies in the most basic terms and in the bigger ways, too. For example, if you’ve got a job interview coming up, they’ll think that you might be nervous and act in a way that helps.
    • They question you (in a good way) if something seems off. Questioning you sounds negative, and it definitely can be. But when someone questions something you said or done (or didn’t say or do!)
