Caterham (/ ˈ k eɪ t ər ə m /) is a town in the Tandridge district of Surrey, England. The town is administratively divided into two: Caterham on the Hill, and Caterham Valley, which includes the main town centre in the middle of a dry valley but rises to equal heights to the south.
Caterham Cars Ltd. is a British manufacturer of specialist lightweight sports cars established in Caterham, England, with their headquarters in Dartford, England. Their current model, the Caterham 7 (or Seven), originally launched in 1973, is a direct evolution of the Series 3 Lotus Seven designed by Colin Chapman.
- It all started with a handshake and a pint... In 1973, in the well-respected Primrose Hill establishment, Pub Lotus, Graham Nearn of Caterham Car Sales & Coachworks and Lotus founder Colin Chapman, agreed to go into business together over a pint and a handshake.
- There have been over 100 different versions of the Seven. That's right, more than 100 different variants of Seven have seen the light of day since it launched in 1957, the vast majority created on Caterham's watch.
