After Opening Jam, the camp's meet-and-greet, Camp Star send snacks to Camp Rock and invite them to their upcoming bonfire event that night. Brown Cesario, Camp Rock's director, is hesitant to attend as Camp Star was founded by Axel Turner, whom Cesario kicked out of his band years ago.
Mitchie Torres (Demi Lovato) returns to Camp Rock, along with her friends and her boyfriend Shane Grey (Joe Jonas). On the way to Camp Rock, she and her mother Connie (María Canals Barrera) notice that a new camp, Camp Star, has opened across the lake.
But when they arrive, she discovers that Camp Star, a slick new camp across the lake, has lured many campers and instructors away, threatening the very existence of Camp Rock. Tess Tyler ( Meaghan Jette Martin ), the diva of Camp Rock, returns, but soon ditches the camp for Camp Star.
The movie opens when Mitchie Torres returns to Camp Rock to be reunited with all her campers ("Brand New Day"), especially Shane Gray. They both decide to spend the summer by knowing each other better. Shane and his bandmates, Jason and Nate arrives at camp in a chicken wagon after their bus had fallen into the lake.
