    • Bedlington Terrier. The lamb-like appearance of the Bedlington terrier matches its gentle nature. This dog sports a unique coat that has both soft and coarse hair.
    • Bichon Frise. The bichon frise is a playful dog with a cheerful personality. It needs haircuts about every four to six weeks as well as regular baths to keep its white coat fresh.
    • Boston Terrier. The Boston terrier is typically an energetic and friendly dog. Its short and sleek coat tends to shed very little, though more noticeable seasonal sheds occur roughly twice a year.
    • Bichon Frise. While completely non-shedding dogs are impossible to come by, the Bichon comes very close with their curled double coat. They’re active, playful dogs that have a cheerful disposition and are compatible with allergy sufferers.
    • Dachshund. Known for their long bodies and short legs, smooth and wirehaired Daschunds are light shedders with a loveable and playful disposition. Their small size makes them a great dog for apartment living and with the appropriate supervision can be an ideal pet for owners with children.
    • Poodle. This high-energy, intelligent breed is a great choice for allergy sufferers but will need regular, professional grooming to maintain their coat.
    • Portuguese Water Dog. Known for their strength and spirit, the Portuguese Water Dog has a coat that’s both waterproof and low-shedding. It can be either curly or wavy and requires monthly groomer's visits and daily brushing to prevent mats.
    • Toy Poodle. At the top of our list of low-shedding dogs is everyone’s favorite loving, playful rascal. Poodles are not only low-shedding dogs but they're also lauded as among the most intelligent dog breeds out there.
    • Affenpinscher. This German Terrier breed (pinscher means terrier in German) is another bundle of cuteness. Originally bred as rat hunters, these dogs retain their hunting instincts which makes them great guard dogs.
    • Miniature Schnauzer. Schnauzers are rightfully famous for their big hearts and seemingly unending energy. And they are much more, too – a Schnauzer loves to be the center of attention.
    • Saluki. Saluki dogs are both one of the oldest dog breeds known to man – approximately 6,000 years old – and are also the fastest dogs globally, surpassing other sighthounds like Greyhounds.
    • Affenpinscher. This tiny, Ewok-looking breed originated in Germany and is most commonly found in Europe. They look shaggy, but their coats are clean and wiry, helping to keep dander at bay.
    • Afghan hound. Afghan hounds are a medium-to-large breed that originated in the mountains of Afghanistan. While they do shed in the spring and fall, the amount of fur that comes off is much lower than that of other breeds.
    • American hairless terrier. As a hairless breed, American hairless terriers don’t shed. But you’ll need to protect them from cold weather and from getting sunburnt during the sunny months.
    • Basenji. The Basenji’s short, shiny coat makes grooming a breeze. And much like cats, these dogs groom themselves! So one quick brush per week should suffice, giving you plenty of time for exercise (which Basenjis need a lot of).
