Amon Amarth (/ əˈmɒn əˈmɑːrθ /) are a Swedish melodic death metal band from Tumba, formed in 1992. The band take its name from the Sindarin name of Mount Doom, a volcano in J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth.
