  4. Mülheim an der Ruhr, city, North RhineWestphalia Land (state), western Germany. It lies just southwest of Essen, in the Ruhr industrial region. First mentioned in 1093, it was early associated with the counts von Broich, whose medieval castle still overlooks the city.

    • Aquarius Wassermuseum. Visible from far and wide is a 50-metre water tower built by August Thyssen in 1892/93 to supply sheet metal rolling mills. Not long after, it was sold to the regional water board and was in service up to the 1980s.
