Jul 9, 2023 · So a while ago on Discord, somebody asked if there were any good sites to download videos from YouTube, and somebody recommended to use Y2mate.com. I want to use it, but I'm paranoid to do so because I don't want to risk getting a virus on my phone or on my computer.
It is safe, however there are many, many, many clones of the website and download links with viruses. It is usually used for piracy, and I’ve personally never had any problems. It’s more than likely you’ve just been unfortunate, try going to r/piracy and look for posts and comments with a safe link.
Nov 13, 2023 · Websites like these exist on ad revenue, and big name advertisers won't work with them so they get these cheap little shady operations doing their ads instead. The whole thing looks very scammy, and it should be treated as a red flag, but one red fleg does not always mean trouble.
Dec 11, 2023 · I use the site Y2Mate. I know the ads and cookies are unsafe. But I’m wondering are the mp4 files themselves safe. And is this true for my windows computer and/or iPhone aswell? Use Seal on Android or yt-dlp or youtube-dl on Windows. It’s safe, so long as you don’t fall for the very questionable ads.

It's not. Y2mate shows you suspicious website advertisements and another suspicious (fake) notifications on the right. Don't click them, it's a virus; Some of them lead to online games, adult content or survives. It's safe, However the ads are not.
