Aug 27, 2019 · The ugly truth about biochemistry and similar majors (chemistry, biology, kinesiology, etc) is that they're completely useless. They don't prepare you for the workforce in any way. Upon graduation, you won't be able to get a job unless you know someone on the inside, have a parent/relative that can get you a job, or you graduated from a very prestigious university.

To answer your question: Considering that biochem is not an easy subject for most, yes, it would be quite normal that you achieved a 2.0 for the course.
May 31, 2021 · Biochemistry as a course title doesn’t help narrow down what it is, much. I’ve seen universities that title lower level molecular biology courses biochemistry, and you have the traditional 2-semester post organic chemistry heavy version. And everything in between.

There's a lot of memorization in the course, and there are simple concepts from organic chemistry that you need to know how to apply. I thought the memorization was the hard part, knowing the structures of all the amino acids, nucleic acids, many sugars, metabolic pathways and structures of intermediate molecules in those pathways; however, I enjoyed it.
For me, Biochemistry tends to be the understanding of chemical reactions at the atomic level - eg, how proteins function, what pathways are doing. Molecular biology tends to be just a hair higher - how proteins interact and other large molecules (DNA, Ribosomes, etc) and genetics is the specific field dealing with the the information held in ...

So if you want to become truly good at it, just study the hell out of it. Learn the basics, then read the literature and keep up to date on your specific interest. Aug 21, 2014 · A biochemistry degree is certainly worth it. But with the caveat that you should use it as a stepping stone to get into research. A biochem student without research experience looks somewhat weak. However the nice thing is that, in my experience, you can get a research assistant position with any college by practically just asking.
