Both are the -Big- brothers of the Gaming Industry GOG having ~7000 curated games, Steam having ~75,000 non-curated games but quallity game count being around ~8,000. Both have excellent support, refunding etc. GOG is geared towards old games and no DRM, Steam is new games with DRM.
Like most commenters here, I prefer GOG first and foremost because of its lack of DRM, but secondly to support market competition and weaken Steam's quasi-monopoly. Last, but not least, GOG seems to have a higher quality hurdle for its library. There seem to be way less garbage games on GOG than on Steam. 4.
