Feb 16, 2022 · In other programs that I've used, if you make a selection in an upper layer and do edit/cut then the area corresponding to the selection is made transparent. This doesn't appear to happen in Affinity Photo. If I make a selection in an existing image and click on Mask Layer, it appears that the inverse of the selection is made transparent.

Jun 13, 2021 · Click on the small gear symbol at the top right of the layers panel (you can see it on your own screenshot, right of "Contrast Negate"). There you get the Blend Options. By dragging the left point of the left window down, you make black transparent. By dragging the right one of the left panel, you make white transparent.

Feb 19, 2018 · In either app you can set white transparent using Blend Ranges. You can access it by clicking the cog symbol next to Blend modes selection in Layers palette. Now how this helps printing is another question as printers usually assume white=no colour. Some textile printers add white ink to cover background colour.
Dec 10, 2023 · Depending on the size of your logo and the background color/image, you could also remove the white background "on the fly" by going to the Layers panel → Blend Options = the cog wheel button → Source Layer Ranges → Left node: In = approx. 80%, Out = 100% → Right node: In = 100%, Out = 0%. That will make the white background transparent.
