Sadhguru (born Jagadish "Jaggi" Vasudev, 3 September 1957) is an Indian guru and founder of the Isha Foundation, based in Coimbatore, India. The foundation, established in 1992, operates an ashram and yoga centre that carries out educational and spiritual activities. Sadhguru has been teaching yoga since 1982.
After a period of about one year, he realized that he should teach yoga and spread the knowledge of yogic science. He started conducting yoga classes in Mysore in 1983; there were just seven participants in his first class.

From the age of 13, he took up hatha yoga after meeting a 70-year-old yogi who displayed great physical dexterity. His fearlessness and physical strength led to a lucrative job as a snake catcher. He would not use a stick but just catch snakes with his bare hands.
Thirteen-year-old Vasudev studied yoga with Malladihalli Raghavendra every day, but he had little interest in spirituality at the time. Vasudev attended Mahajana Pre-University College and Mysore's Demonstration School.
