    Wall location

Not only does the wall mount need to be strong enough to hold the weight of your tv, but so does the wall. To properly wall mount a tv, ensure you are positioning it using the wall studs. The wall studs will hold much more weight than mounting the tv into gyprock. The studs can support a heavier tv with the supplied anchoring equipment. Mounting a tv into gyprock even with anchors is not recommended.

    Location of power outlets

Before you start drilling holes in your wall, ensure the location has proper power outlet access. Ensure there is plenty of space for power bars and cable management systems.

    Availability of ports

Many people forget about this one. Before buying a wall mount, consider the location of the ports on the tv. If the tv has back ports only, you may need to use a telescoping or tilting tv wall mount as accessing the ports once mounted will be difficult. A standard fixed wall mount might not be an option. Reaching behind the tv with HDMI cables once the tv is mounted could be impossible. This is not a concern with ports located on the side of the tv.

  4. Mar 29, 2018 · I want to hang a TV over the fireplace (see pic) but I’m not sure if the wall can handle it. The TV and mount weigh 70lbs total. I will screw the mount into studs that are in the wall over the fireplace but I’m not sure how it’s supported around the fireplace.

  5. Oct 25, 2023 · As you’d suspect, the TV mount really doesn’t care about how large of a TV it holds. The size recommendation was really more about the weight. As long as the mounting holes on the back line up with your new TV, and the new TV isn’t too heavy for the mount, you can use it with your new TV.

  6. Jun 10, 2024 · If the bracket is securely mounted to studs, it looks strong enough to hold any modern TV up to about 80 inches. If you have some 300lb plasma monster from the 00s, it would probably cost you less to by a great new TV than a better bracket.
