Released on October 5th, 2022 and in time for the 60th anniversary of the Eon Bond franchise by documentary maker Matt Whitecross, The Sound of 007 is a celebration of the music of Eon's James Bond films. It is not to be confused with other releases of the same title including a separate anniversary concert in London's Royal Albert Hall that also occurred on 4th October 2022, and a CD compilation of Bond theme tunes which came out some years earlier.

The documentary includes interviews and archive footage of the likes of John Barry, Michael Caine (who previously shared a flat with Barry), Lulu, Monty Norman, Garbage, Duran Duran, Shirley Bassey, John Glen Paul McCartney, Tom Jones, Sheena Easton, Carly Simon, Tina Turner, Madonna, Jack White and Alicia Keys, Chris Cornell, Adele, Sam Smith, Sheryl Crow, Nancy Sinatra and a-ha.

•The documentary poster is a visual pun upon the Eon gunbarrel sequence and a vinyl record.

•For whatever reasons, the contributions of Bill Conti (For Your Eyes Only (1981)), Michael Kamen (Licence to Kill (1989)) and Éric Serra (GoldenEye (1995)) are ignored.

•In the audio description at the beginning of the film, Billie Eilish is said to be shown in black and white footage, when in fact she is shown in colour.

•The documentary ignores non-Eon film music, such as Jerry Goldsmith who composed a score to an onscreen Bond production eight years before Eon, and Burt Bacharach who composes the music to the original Casino Royale movie.
