We hold an Entrance Test for entry to Year 7 in January each year, for entry in the following September. For entry in September 2025, please register with us by 6th December. At the time of registering you can specify an interest in applying for one of our scholarships or a bursary.

Initially a grammar school for boys, WGS was founded in 1512 by Sir Stephen Jenyns, a master of the ancient guild of Merchant Taylors, who was also Lord Mayor of London in the year of Henry VIII 's coronation.
