Due to severe space constraints, IIT Delhi has very limited availability of in-campus/hostel accommodation with a capacity that can accommodate only a little over half (50%) of the total enrolled students (12500+ as of July 2023). Most of this accommodation is available only on sharing basis.
Hence, it is to be noted that the offer of admission at IIT Delhi does not guarantee on-campus accommodation. The best support, pertaining to accommodation, is in form of providing the contact information of some off-campus accommodation that may be available within walking distance of the campus.
Established in 1965, Jwalamukhi has a storied legacy as one of the oldest and most prestigious hostels on campus. Conveniently located near Gate No. 6, this vibrant home hosts around 400 students, offering a unique blend of tradition and modernity.
IIT Delhi has stopped providing on-campus hostel facilities to PG MTech students specially bound mainly due to the shortage of Hostel rooms inside the campus. Earlier they used to provide off-campus hostels that were in pathetic conditions.

One point needs some mention. Owing to our rapid growth in recent years, we are facing acute shortage of campus accommodation (hostels). Due to this, some of our students may need to stay outside campus, at least in the initial period of their study in PG programmes at IIT Delhi. IIT Delhi will do everything possible to facilitate the stay outside
