We have such expressions as "A ship sank off the coast of British Columbia" or "There is an island off the coast of England..." That always means out in the water. I would have no idea where she lives if I were to read your sentence.

Generally you would have to be able to walk on or traverse a shore. A cliff at the water's edge would not be a shore. Once again, what you're dealing with is equally meaning and context.

Maybe that's part of the joke, if Wade is a well-to-do, uptight kind of character. And both coasts are considered more culturally important than the large American middle.

Dec 9, 2005 · so you guys say 9/8c it's at 9pm for eastern and 8pm for central. and then you also said that at mountain it's 7 or 8pm. and pacific at 9pm. but eastern it's GTM -4 and GTM -5. and mountain GTM -7. anf pacific GTM -8. so when it's 9pm/10pm at eastern it's 6pm/7pm at montain thats okay.
