Carrigallen (Irish: Carraig Álainn, meaning 'beautiful rock') is a small village in County Leitrim, Ireland. It is on the R201 and R203 roads in the east of the county, 19 km west of Cavan town. As of 2016 [update] , the village had a population of 387. [1]
Carrigallen, in the south of County Leitrim, is said to be located close to where the three provinces of Ireland – Ulster, Leinster and Connaught. The town is set amongst magnificent scenery and is an excellent angling centre.
Carrigallen is situated in an area of numerous drumlins between counties Cavan and Longford. It is particularly notable for being located at a point in the south Leitrim, that the three provinces Ulster, Leinster and Connacht meet.

Carrigallen History. The History of Carrigallen and it’s Parish dates as far back as the Stone Age, between the year 4 and 15 BC. We know this from the scant remains they left behind in the form of megalithic tombs which they built as burial places for their dead.
