From what I've heard, the answer is yes, Maryland is part of the south, yes, Maryland is part of the north, and yes, Mid-Atlantic is a thing. Delaware I've only heard of as north and Mid-Atlantic I think. But it's so often forgotten that I'm not swearing to anything.
The border states of Delaware and Maryland and other states are sometimes included in other definitions of the Northeast, but the Census Bureau considers both states to be part of the Southern United States.
