Pathan secured a significant margin of 85,022 votes, defeating his immediate rivals. As per the ECI, Pathan garnered 5,24,516 votes, while Congress two-time MP Ranjan secured 4,39,494 votes, and the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate, Dr Nirmal Kumar Saha, managed to secure 3,71,885 votes.
