Aug 16, 2020 · Backdraft comes to US 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray courtesy of Universal (who have yet to release it in the UK, over a year on), with a stunning native 4K presentation. The disc presents a native 3840 x 2160p resolution image in the film's original theatrical aspect ratio of widescreen 2.4:1, and uses 10-bit video depth, a Wide Colour Gamut (WCG), High Dynamic Range , and is encoded using the HEVC (H.265) codec for HDR10.

Jul 7, 2024 · Yes, it doesn't hold up as well as Speed, or another very similarly structured classic from that era - In the Line of Fire - and probably holds up better compared to something like the also immensely enjoyable and also spectacularly OTT Backdraft. Really, though, this is a highly engaging and frequently viscerally spectacular bomb disposal thriller, with a great cast, and it's well worth a (re)watch.

Nov 25, 2011 · I would have thought Backdraft was a 24p disc, so that may explain why it had more rainbows. If you watched it at 60i then there would have been judder caused by the 3:2 pull down but I don't know what effect this has on rainbows. I demoed an IN76 a good few years ago and thought the image was great, but the rainbows did it for me.

Jan 9, 2019 · Another Long shot: turn off HDR in the player before loading the disc and see if it will then get to the disc menu. Or set the player up to HDR-->SDR BT.709 or HDR-->SDR BT.2020 and again see if it will load to the menu. Or set the HDMI resolution on the UB420 as 1080p rather than 4K or Auto.
