Ravenshaw is the oldest institution of higher education in the state of Odisha and one of the oldest institutions of higher education in India. It was founded in 1868 with intermediate level (F. A.) classes at the Cuttack Zilla (district) School (now Ravenshaw Collegiate School).
Ravenshaw University came into existence on the 15th day of November, 2006. It was an up-gradation of Ravenshaw College established in 1868, one of the oldest and largest colleges in India which subsequently became an autonomous college and was accorded CPE status by UGC and ‘A’ grade by NAAC.
Ravenshaw is the oldest and the best known centre for higher education in Odisha. It has a legacy of 150 years as a College and is proud to have trained some of the best minds. And yet, it is a young University which is hardly fifteen years old.

Ravenshaw University, formerly known as Ravenshaw College, is a co-educational state university situated in Cuttack, Odisha on the eastern coast of India. Founded as Ravenshaw College in 1868, the institution became a university in 2006. The university has nine schools, thirty three academic departments and a student enrolment of nearly 8,000.
It offers 25 UG and 33 PG courses across 26 departments and 9 schools. Aside from the basic undergraduate and postgraduate courses, the institute also offers integrated courses, postgraduate diplomas, and certificate courses. The admission is strictly based on the entrance exam. Application forms are available online.
