2011 की जनगणना के अनुसार, बदायूं शहर की आबादी 369,221 (188,475 पुरुष 180,746 महिला = 1000/907), 39,613 (12.3%) थी, जिनकी उम्र 0 से 6 वर्ष थी। वयस्क साक्षरता दर 73.% थी। शहर में व्यापक रूप से बोली जाने वाली भाषा हिंदी और उर्दू है जिसमें अंग्रेजी का उपयोग बहुत कम किया जाता है, और शहर में पंजाबी भी एक महत्वपूर्ण भाषा है।
अलाउद्दीन ने अपने जीवन के अन्तिम वर्ष बदायूँ में ही बिताए थे। अकबर के दरबार का इतिहास लेखक अब्दुलक़ादिर बदायूँनी यहाँ अनेक वर्षों तक रहे थे और बदायूँनी ने इसे अपनी आँखों से देखा। बदायूँनी का मक़बरा बदायूँ का प्रसिद्ध स्मारक है। इसके अतिरिक्त इमादुल्मुल्क की दरगाह (पिसनहारी का गुम्बद) भी यहाँ की प्राचीन इमारतों में उल्लेखनीय है।
बदायूँ में आसपास के क्षेत्रों में चावल, गेंहूं, जौ, बाजरा और सफ़ेद चने की उपज होती है। यहाँ लघु उद्योग भी हैं।बदायूँ मैन्था के लिए मशहूर है देश का लगभग ४०% फ़ीसद मैन्था यहीं होता है इसलिए इसे भारत का मैन्था शहर भी कहते हैं
यहां पे चार डिग्री कॉलेज हैं जैसे अगर हम डिग्री कॉलेज पर नजर डालें तो नेहरु मेमोरियल शिवनारायण दास डिग्री कॉलेज , राजकीय डिग्री कॉलेज , राजकीय महिला डिग्री कॉलेज और आसिम मेमोरीयल डिग्री कॉलेज हैं ओर भी यहां कई कॉलेज हैं लेकिन सरकार ने बदायूं को एक मेडिकल कॉलेज भी दिया यहां एक मेडिकल कॉलेज भी है। यहाँ हाफ़िज मुहम्मद सिद्दीकी इसलामिया इंटर कॉलेज है।
