Named after the school founded by Bishop Mathew Blagden Hale in 1858, Hale School claims to be the oldest private boys' school in Western Australia, a claim subsequently contested by historian and former Hale School Headmaster Dr Ken Tregonning.

Entry to Hale. Standard entry levels for day boys are Pre-Primary, Year 4 and Year 7. Offers of places are made two years in advance for Pre-Primary and one year in advance for Year 4.
