Chow Tai Fook Capital is owned by the descendants of the late Chow Tai Fook Jewellery founder Chow Chi-yuen (Chinese: 周至元) and his son-in-law, the late Cheng Yu-tung, which includes the current Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group chairman, Chow Tai Fook (Holding) director Henry Cheng.
Chow Tai Fook was founded in Guangzhou, Mainland China in 1929, and relocated its business to Hong Kong, China and Macau, China in wartime during the 1930s. Yet, in the 1990s, times have changed, and Mainland China’s “Open Door” Policy ushered in unprecedented economic reforms.
In 1929, Chow Chi-Yuen founded the first Chow Tai Fook gold jewellery store on Hongde Road in the provincial capital, Guangzhou, Mainland China, which specialised in gold jewellery.
