Goochland County is a county located in the Piedmont of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Its southern border is formed by the James River. As of the 2020 census, the population was 24,727. [2] Its county seat is Goochland. [3] Goochland County is included in the Greater Richmond Region.

Goochland is located just south of the center of Goochland County and just north of the James River. U.S. Route 522 passes through the center of the community, leading north 27 miles (43 km) to Mineral and south 10 miles (16 km) to its southern terminus at U.S. Route 60 near Powhatan.
