Sammy is a green sea turtle who's Shelly's partner/mate and Ella's maternal grandfather, and the chief of the reef village located at the Southern Seas. He's also the main protagonist of the first prequel film A Turtle's Tale: Sammy's Adventures.

He manages to escape along with another hatchling sea turtle named Shelly who was caught by another seagull. Sammy falls onto an old raft and gets carried into the Tasman sea, losing Shelly.
