  1. Bernard Charles Wrightson (born June 25, 1944) is a former Olympic and Pan American Games gold medalist for the United States. [1] The Denver, Colorado , native [ 2 ] was primarily a three-meter springboard diver, but he also won a national AAU championship on the ten-meter platform.

In 1967 Bernie Wrightson won the springboard at the Pan American Games and the following year, prior to winning his Olympic gold medal, he equalled Gary Tobian's record of seven AAU outdoor diving championships. Wrightson attended Arizona State and in his senior year (1966), won the NCAA springboard.
