The name "Mar del Plata" is a shortening of "Mar del Rio de la Plata," and has the meaning of "sea of the Rio de la Plata basin" or "adjoining sea to the (River) Plate region". Mar del Plata is one of the major fishing ports and the biggest seaside beach resort in Argentina.

The entire home was transported from England to Argentina by boat, and now visitors can venture around for a look back in time to see how the high society spent their vacations in the early 20th century.
- Eat Some Great Seafood. Being by the sea, it’s no surprise that Mar del Plata has a ton of excellent restaurants serving up fresh seafood, and the calamari here is especially plentiful.

Mar del Plata is on the southwest coast of the Argentinian sea. It is the second most touristic city in the country after Buenos Aires. You can go to Mar del Plata by plane, by bus, by train or by car. It is 400 km from Buenos Aires approximately. You can take route 2 if you are driving, but you must pay a toll.
