Groove. 86 minutes ‧ R ‧ 2000. Roger Ebert. June 30, 2000. 3 min read. “Groove” provides a cleaned-up, innocuous version of the rave scene, showing it as a life-affirming voyage of discovery instead of what it often is, a stop-and-shop ticket to troubles with Ecstasy.
My main gripe with this movie is the fast-paced character development doesn't really leave you caring about the characters; other than that, the movie is good enough to hold interest. 1 out of 3 found this helpful.
Groove works remarkably well as a casual all-nighter hang out movie. You don't even need to be into the rave scene to get something from it; this seemingly meandering story is an excuse to throw together a diverse cast of characters into a situation where all of their inhibitions are down.
