The boarding house has a dedicated live-in House Parent, Mel Gittins, whose role is to make sure boarders are happy and safe, and to provide the pastoral care and organisation essential to the community and to every individual.
The grammar school closed in 1904 and the estate was occupied by the army during the First World War and by a series of tenants until 1921; the Christian Brothers founded a boys' boarding school in 1924. Prior Park College continues to occupy the main house.
Prior Park is a Neo-Palladian house that was designed by John Wood, the Elder, and built in the 1730s and 1740s for Ralph Allen on a hill overlooking Bath, Somerset, England. It has been designated as a Grade I listed building. The house was built in part to demonstrate the properties of Bath stone as a building material.
