I saw this movie a few years after it was released, and I was puzzled about how it came to be. Reed Fish (the screenwriter) had no other writing credit to his name, no real notoriety or following, and no (apparent) Hollywood connections. Same thing with director Zackary Adler. The film itself was OK, but not exceptional.
