Humayma (Arabic: الحميمة, romanized: al-Humayma) also spelled Humeima and Humaima, is the modern name of ancient Hawara. Hawara was a trading post in southern Jordan that was founded by the Nabataean king Aretas III in the early first century BC.
The present Arabic name al-Humayma originated in early Islamic times. Among archaeologists, Humayma is considered one of the most interesting ancient sites in Jordan, with its Nabataean, Roman, Byzantine and early Islamic remains.
